Sydney Schools Football Referees Association (SSFRA) is an affiliated referees branch of Football NSW. We provide referees and referee training services to high schools across the Sydney basin. We have over 80 adult member referees and each year train 100+ student referees from within our client schools.

SSFRA's primary purpose is to provide referees for the 1st and 2nd Grade Football Competitions of the Athletic Association of Great Public Schools of NSW (AAGPS), Associated Schools of NSW (CAS), Independent Schools Association (ISA), Combined Independent Schools (CIS) and Independent Girls Schools Sporting Association (IGSSA). These games are the equivalent of U18 Division 1/2 in District Football.

SSFRA also provides support for other High Schools and Independent Schools upon request and we regularly send teams to officiate at Football NSW's Youth League competitions (Super League and Division 1). As part of our development program, SSFRA has representative members selected on the elite Premier Youth League Panel and also refereeing with the State League Referees Branch.

The majority of our games take place on Saturdays between March and September each year, with some mid-week and Sunday opportunities. Most of our client schools and their fields are located in the City, Inner West, Eastern or North Shore suburbs.

SSFRA is one of the youngest Referees Branches in NSW, having been incorporated in 1999 due to an identified gap in refereeing services required by the independent schools. SSFRA was established to provide 100% coverage for the school competitions and ensure that skilled officials were present for these show piece games. From its humble beginnings of 100 games per season, in 2016, SSFRA provided officials to over 1200 games involving over 40 different schools.
